Ebony is a great and warm wood that works well and shows its true color and beauty when sanded and polished.  The ebony i sell is from west africa and kindly do note that they have different degrees of streaks and i believe its really hard to get complete jet black
All my gaboon ebony fingerboards/ fretboards are quarter sawn from round logs. This picture is only a sample piece. You will get almost something closer to it.

When i find a piece that's totally jet black it may have a knot or a pin whole or some thing wrong. Only certain portion of the tree would be black and its not economical to just cut the black part and leave the rest.  The streaks in the wood is quite natural whether its gaboon ebony or  indian ebony which has streaks like rain drops.  When compared to other wholesalers what i sell is premium stuff and you can send message to the buyers who bought from me previously to check my quality.  I have listed in the photos various kind of pieces to let you know what you may receive. Please do note  that you will see the beauty of what i send after you sand them and polish it. This listing is for gaboon ebony and i look forward to your business. Note- check the moisture content before use when you get them as it may be in various stages of drying. Sometimes what i ship is from the top of the stack or sometimes in the middle as i select the best for you. Always let them sit for a while to get used to the moisture of the shop you are going to work on
