    Description

Douglass Parshall American Artist (1899-1990). This work in oils on panel titled 'Conversation' , 1941, signed by the artist LR and inscribed/signed verso, measures 14x18' unframed, and approx. 20x24 as framed. It is in excellent condition.
Several notations are observed rear, along with title and signature in the artist's hand:
' Rem.pic.var. '70' (presumably a removal of earlier varnish was performed then)
    'Shown at Bakersfield 1955'
'1 coat Dutch Boy lead turps (?) + Gilbert (?) zinc April 1941'
The frame is in the Taos/southwestern tradition, and bears the Spanish notation '#4 oro lavado base roja' (gold washed red base) upper right rear.
Parshall, son of painter Dewitt Parshall, was born in NYC but lived in Santa Barbara, CA. He was formally trained at the Arts Students League, NYC and the Ecole Julian, Paris. Free shipping.
